WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AT YOUER
(video link)
Youer is in a major season of scaling. We’re growing DTC dramatically and demand is
outpacing our systems. To keep moving at this speed without losing what makes
the brand unique, we need someone to run the machine so our founder can build
the brand.
About Youer
Youer is a women’s activewear brand based in Missoula, Montana. We design whimsical,
story-driven clothing and bring it to life through ethical, American supplychains. We’ve been in business for over a decade, but we operate with a startup
mentality - things move fast here and we’re engineering new solutions daily.
The brand was started in 2012 by founder Mallory Ottariano with a $100 sewing machine, relatively accidentally. At the time, there was not a lot of cute and colorful outdoor clothing for women that didn’t look like a costume. Mallory started making things she wanted to wear, and turns out other people wanted them too. Things have grown in an intentional way since, but we’re executing against an aggressive growth strategy and riding some serious momentum, which can be chaotic at times. We’ve become well known for our recognizable floral prints and feminine aesthetic and we’re deeply passionate about making technical clothing that’s cute. Our clothes are designed for serious outdoor pursuits, but are very fashion-forward lending themselves to everyday wear.
The right person for this team is curious, adaptable, and comfortable with fast decisions, pivots, and making it up as we go.
We operate on the principles of EOS - the Entrepreneurial Operating System. Everyone on this team has ownership and is held accountable to it.
The Role
You will work directly with Mallory Ottariano, Founder and Creative Director, helping first-hand in managing a team and growing a brand with a dedicated following and a relatable story. This role reports directly to Mallory. You are the integrator - the person who takes visionary ideas and builds the systems to make them happen. You’ll drive and evolve operational activities across team, logistics, warehousing, and events, and contribute to business strategy to make sure we hit our goals.
This is a leadership role where you’ll have authority and accountability from day one.
The right person thinks like a general manager, not just a function owner. You thrive in ownership. You’re an ops person first, but you understand how creative decisions get made. You build systems that make growth inevitable - and you bring enough curiosity about branding to care deeply about how Youer shows up in the world.
Accountabilities
(We’re big on accountability at Youer and use this term in place of “Roles and Responsibilities”)
Team Leadership
You are the operational backbone of a small, fast-moving team. You will own and facilitate our weekly leadership meeting - setting the agenda, running the meeting, and following up on action items so accountability never falls back on the founder. When team members have questions, you’re the first call. When something isn’t working, you handle it. Onboarding, training, policy enforcement, and time-off management all live here.
Headquarters Operations
You own the standard of our physical environment and hold the team accountable to maintaining it. That means coordinating insurance, legal, licensing, and compliance, and making sure our Missoula HQ stays clean, organized, and fully functional as a team effort that you lead and are ultimately responsible for. When something needs attention, you notice it and make sure it gets handled.
Inventory Analysis and Buying Support
You own the data layer behind our inventory decisions. You monitor stock levels and
sell-through on a regular cadence, identify what’s moving and what isn’t, and translate that analysis into ordering forecasts that inform our design and sourcing team’s purchase order decisions. You’re the one who catches a trend before it becomes a problem and brings a clear recommendation to the table.
Warehousing and Fulfillment Management
You own the warehousing and fulfillment operation from a systems, process, and
management standpoint. That means overseeing incoming purchase orders, managing inventory, packaging, carriers, shipping software, and returns and exchanges. You manage the team doing the physical work - receiving, shipping, and
day-to-day warehouse operations - and are accountable for the function running cleanly with or without you in the room. When something breaks in the fulfillment process, you fix it. When we scale, you build the systems that scale with us.
Events
You own everything that happens before a sales event starts. You build the sales forecast, create the inventory packing list, manage the packing, and coordinate all logistics for our pop-ups and events.
What This Is
An operations leadership role with authority and accountability.
Our team runs on creativity. We have no shortage of ideas, vision, or energy - what we need is someone who can organize those concepts, build the runway, and make sure every big idea gets somewhere. You’re the follow-through, moving ideas toward a finish line.
If you get energy from being the most organized person in a room full of creative people, you’ll thrive here.
What This Isn’t
A remote job. An entry-level or junior position. A role where someone tells you what to do every day. A position for someone who needs a lot of structure handed to them.
